Fjällräven’s new Canada Wool Padded Jacket has just been chosen, from a long list of products, as winner of an ISPO Award 2019 in the ‘urban’ category.
The ISPO Award 2019 honors the most innovative sports products for 2019/2020. An independent, international jury composed of 43 experts from 12 countries, including retailers, designers, marketing experts, journalists, consumers and athletes has chosen the winners. It is ISPO's quality seal for outstanding new products. It is broken down into five segments and sub-categories that reflect the true breadth of the sporting goods market.
The Canada Wool Padded Jacket is a comfortable mid-layer jacket that lets you stay a little longer by the campfire. Made from a soft wool flannel in a classic lumberjack-style, with shoulders and pocket flaps reinforced with G-1000 Eco for extra strength, the jacket doesn’t just look great; it also features noteworthy sustainability credentials. The jacket is filled not with down, or fossil-fuel based synthetic insultation, but natural wool padding. The wool is carefully selected surplus wool from a farm on the Swedish island of Gotland. Otherwise discarded, Fjällräven’s recovered wool is repurposed as insulation. It harnesses wool’s innate properties of offering warmth, even when damp, and the ability to help you regulate your temperature by wicking away moisture. It’s also naturally resistant to odours and dirt.
“We’re really proud to have won this award for the Canada Wool Padded Jacket in particular because of its low impact on the environment. The padding used as insulation would normally be thrown away or burned. Instead, we’ve used it to create a useful, comfortable and good-looking product,” says Henrik Andersson, Head of Design and Innovation at Fjällräven.
