Fjällräven’s new warm climate trekking trousers “Abisko Midsummer trousers” has been chosen from a long list of products as Gold Winner of the new “Outstanding Outdoor Awards 2019” at OutDoor by ISPO.
Outstanding Outdoor is a new quality seal for outdoor products. It serves as a guide to products for the coming season and is aimed at specialist retailers, journalists and consumers. After reviewing 203 nominations in 28 categories, the international jury of experts selected the new Abisko Midsummer Trousers as the best product in the category Mountain & Hiking Pants and awarded as Gold Winner 2019.
For spring and summer 2020, Fjällräven is focusing on clothing suitable for outdoor activities in warm conditions – lightweight, improved ventilation, fast drying fabrics and packable garments. With the Abisko Midsummer Trousers Fjällräven is introducing a pair of lightweight trousers made from the newly developed G-1000 Air Stretch that is unwaxed and has a looser weave to let heat and moisture pass through the fabric. The mechanical stretch offers a slight flex and gives great freedom of movement. The lightweight, well-ventilated, packable fabrics provide great alternative to shorts when full-length leg protection is needed: be it from sun, insects or rough terrain.
“We’re really happy to receive the Gold Winner award for the Abisko Midsummer Trousers. Warm summer conditions haven’t historically been a focus for Fjällräven. But in recent years we have recognised the need to develop this side of things and adapt our products to warmer climates. This award shows us that we are on the right path”, says Henrik Andersson, Head of Design and Innovation at Fjällräven.
